たちあう【立ち合う】

〔相撲で取り組む〕 have [fight] a bout 《with sb》; 〔剣道などで勝負をする〕 have a match 《with sb》.

●立ち合わせる match [pit] one wrestler [jūdōka, karate player] against another.

●〔剣道などの試合で〕 前年度の優勝者と立ち合うことになった. I'm to have a match with last year's champion [winner].
